Following the success of his latest single, One Good Radio, Steve is back in the studio with award winning producer, Bart McKay. The entire Team is busy recording new music for release in the summer of 2020. The last two years have been some of the most successful to date.
In 2019, Steve released Try Somethin’ Different, a song that peaked at #78 on the MediabaseRolling Charts. The year was full of big events for Steve. The band played on the Rogers Hometown Hockey Stage and followed that up with taping an episode of The Moment, a show focusing on Alberta music. July brought Canada Day and a place on the mainstage in Spruce Grove and nine days later, an opening spot with Terri Clark at the River Cree Resort.
When Steve’s debut single, Tried, Tested and True, was released to radio on March 21, 2016, it was already being played in Europe and was quickly added to 45 stations across Canada. The follow up and title track to his first CD, Enjoy The Ride, had similar success. The self penned, I Ain’t Looking For A Fight, just missed being a Top 100 hit, peaking at Number 101.
Steve’s music and regional success garnered him some fantastic opportunities. The summer of 2016 saw him, and the band, open for Brett Kissel in Spruce Grove, Alberta. It did not stop there as he supplied direct support to The Dungarees and Emerson Drive in 2017. He has also been blessed to have shared the stage with once again with Kissel, Washboard Union, Jake Mathews, Duane Steele and Adam Gregory to name a few.
Though Steve got his professional start in 2016, he has been playing music, open stages and campfires for many more years. Growing up in southern Alberta and later moving to Stony Plain, Steve is accomplished in ranch rodeo events and guiding in the back country. He also never misses a chance to mentor emerging artists, giving back what he was given when he got his start.
Justine Vandergrift is a guitar picking singer-songwriter / performing artist with her own brand of country soul with roots that dig into the hymns and folk songs of her central Alberta youth. Her four studio releases reveal a rare and irresistible knack for lyric and melody, and her newest release 'Stay' represents a deepening of that artistry.
Justine has also contributed a huge amount of work and resources behind the scenes to bring this event together, we are grateful to have her with us.
